cPanel includes Apache SpamAssassin, which scores every incoming message and flags or blocks likely spam.
Turn on spam filtering
- Log in to cPanel and open Email → Spam Filters.
- Turn on Process New Emails and Mark them as Spam. Spam is tagged with ***SPAM*** in the subject.
- Optional: turn on Move New Spam to a Separate Folder (Spam Box) to keep it out of your inbox.
- Optional: turn on Automatically Delete New Spam (Auto-Delete) for very high scores only.
Adjust the sensitivity
Spam is scored from 1 to 10 — lower thresholds catch more spam but also more legitimate mail. Start at the default of 5, then lower it if spam still gets through. If you turn on auto-delete, use a high threshold (8–10) so real messages are never lost.
Whitelist and blacklist
Under Additional Configurations, add senders to the Whitelist (never treat as spam) or Blacklist (always treat as spam). You can use wildcards, like *@trusted-company.com.
Tip: Check your Spam folder for a week after turning filtering on, and whitelist anyone who lands there by mistake.
