How to Create Custom Error Pages (404 and More)

Show a friendly, branded page when a visitor hits a missing or broken link.

← Help Center

When someone visits a page that doesn’t exist, they see a 404 error. A custom error page keeps them on your site with helpful links.

Create a custom error page

  1. Log in to cPanel and open Advanced → Error Pages.
  2. Choose the domain.
  3. Click the error code to edit — usually 404 (Not Found).
  4. Write the page in HTML. Include a link back to your home page and a way to search or contact you.
  5. Click Save.

Tip: Using WordPress or another app? It usually has its own 404 page set by your theme, which takes priority over these.
