You can read and send your hosted email from almost any mail app. All you need are the correct server settings — and cPanel will show you the exact ones for your account.
Find your exact settings
- Log in to cPanel and open Email → Email Accounts.
- Click Connect Devices next to the mailbox.
- Note the Secure SSL/TLS Settings. Always use these rather than the non-SSL settings.
Typical settings
- Username: your full email address (for example, you@yourdomain.com)
- Password: the mailbox password
- Incoming (IMAP): the server shown on Connect Devices, port 993, SSL/TLS
- Incoming (POP3): same server, port 995, SSL/TLS
- Outgoing (SMTP): same server, port 465, SSL/TLS, with authentication turned on
Tip: Choose IMAP if you check mail on more than one device — it keeps your phone, laptop and webmail in sync. POP3 downloads mail to one device and usually removes it from the server.
Adding the account
- iPhone / iPad: Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Mail Account.
- Android: open your mail app, add an account and choose Other or IMAP.
- Outlook: File → Add Account → Advanced options → let me set up my account manually → IMAP.
- Apple Mail (Mac): Mail → Add Account → Other Mail Account.
If your app asks, choose to set up the account manually and enter the settings above.
Troubleshooting
- Password rejected: make sure the username is the full email address, not just the part before the @.
- Can receive but not send: check that outgoing (SMTP) authentication is turned on and uses the same username and password.
- Certificate warning: use the server name exactly as shown on the Connect Devices page.
